2. What data we collect
We collect information you provide and limited technical data needed to operate the app:
- Account information: email address, name, and credentials used to sign in. Passwords are processed and stored using industry-standard hashing on our servers.
- Pet and health-related information: information you enter about pets and their care (profiles, appointments, reminders, diary-style notes, and related medical records).
- Photos and files: images or documents you attach (for example from your camera or gallery) when you choose to upload them.
- Device and technical data: device model and operating system, app version, push notification token (for Firebase Cloud Messaging), and similar identifiers required to run the app and deliver notifications. Server logs may include IP addresses and timestamps for security and reliability.
Mobile App Permissions and Data Use
This Privacy Policy also applies to the VetPlayas mobile application.
- Photos and media: The app may request access to your device’s camera and photo library so you can upload images (such as pet photos, medical records, or related documents). These are only accessed when you choose to upload them.
- Purpose of access: Uploaded images are used strictly to provide core app features such as pet profiles, tracking, and veterinary insights.
- Limited use: We do not access your photos or camera in the background, and we do not use this data for advertising or sell it to third parties.
3. Why we use it
We use the information above to:
- Create and maintain accounts and authenticate users.
- Operate and improve the app, including syncing data with our API.
- Provide and manage appointments, pet profiles, reminders, and related features.
- Send service-related notifications (for example appointment or reminder alerts) when enabled.
- Provide customer support and respond to requests.
- Protect security, prevent fraud, and maintain reliability.
- Comply with applicable laws and respond to lawful requests.
Where GDPR/UK GDPR applies, we use appropriate legal bases, which may include performance of a contract, legitimate interests, and consent where required. If you do not request marketing communications, we do not use your personal information for third-party marketing or advertising unless we clearly provide choices and obtain consent where required.
6. Data Retention
We retain user data only for as long as necessary to provide and improve our services.
User account information, including name and email, and user-generated content such as pet images and records, are stored while the user account remains active.
Users may request deletion of their account and associated data at any time. Upon such requests, we will delete or anonymize user data within a reasonable period, unless retention is required for legal, security, or fraud prevention purposes.
We do not retain personal data longer than necessary for operational and compliance requirements.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information. You may also object to or restrict certain processing. To request help, contact us at privacy@sumerudigital.com. You may also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
8. Children
VetPlayas is not directed to children under 13 (or under 16 where a higher age applies under local law). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will take appropriate steps.
9. International transfers
Our servers and subprocessors may be located in countries other than your own. Where we transfer personal data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards required by applicable law.
10. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last updated" date. Material changes may be communicated through the app or by email where appropriate.
